Solving labour shortages

Some people say immigration can solve a labour shortage.

Is that possible?

A shortage occurs when there is more demand than supply.

Migrants do supply labour but they also demand labour. They demand more than they supply.

Using immigration for shortages in one occupation will create shortages in other occupations. Using immigration for those shortages will create more shortages than it solves.

Immigration makes labour shortages worse.
